Larry J. Petak, 74, of Cayuga, passed away at 3:55 p.m. EDT Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana.
He was born December 13, 1942 in Clinton, Indiana the son of the late Joseph and Marian (Wooten) Petak.
Survivors include his daughter, Amber Petak; grandson, Josey Harden and granddaughter, Cassidy Harden, all of Cayuga, Indiana; one brother, Jerry (Suellen) Petak of Arkansas; special friend and second daughter, Nancy Noggle of Cayuga, Indiana, and special friends, Bonnie (Petak) Morton of West Terre Haute, Indiana and Brandon Dillon of Cayuga, Indiana.
Larry was a retired crane operator out of the Operating Engineers Local 841 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a 1960 graduate of Clinton High School. His memberships included the Cayuga S.A.L. and the American Quarter Horse Association. Larry enjoyed raising horses and watching the Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals. He was especially interested in helping his grandson, Josey, learn how to operate heavy equipment and his granddaughter, Cassidy riding her horse. He enjoyed baling hay with Kevin Gallagher and his daily talks with Cindy Hawn.
A Celebration of Larry J. Petak’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. EDT at the Cayuga American Legion, 922 West Ferry Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928. Contributions may be made to the Cayuga S.A.L., 922 West Ferry Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
